Each wedding has a unique love story and this one is beyond extraordinary in so many ways. Most love stories you read about are based on a Bride and Groom, but this is more than that. This love story happens to be between a Mother and her Daughter. In this case the mother of the bride happens to be the grandmother who has raised her since she was only 6 years old. Amber was the first little girl born into the family and “Grammy” as she is known to everyone, has dreamed about Amber’s wedding since the day she was born.
Unfortunately in January of this year, Grammy was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and doesn’t have much time left with us. This incredible styled shoot was put together to give them that special moment they have always dreamed about together. The collaboration between all the vendors was something more special than just a styled shoot, it was about making a dream come true for a family that has been greatly affected by cancer.
In the heart of Albuquerque, New Mexico this one-of-a-kind estate with sprawling acres, architecture worthy of an Italian villa, trees that light up the entire driveway and an ivy covered arbor makes the PERFECT backdrop for a fairytale wedding. The gorgeous private estate is where Amber was raised and every single photo has something meaningful behind it. Grammy designed the arbor with the sole intention of Amber having her wedding there (no pressure or anything lol). Since she is now on hospice and homebound this dream turned into a reality thanks to all the vendors involved. These moments will only get to be appreciated by these very photos.
Each design element and detail put into this shoot had a special meaning. Amber wore the ring Grammy gave her when she graduated high school, the cathedral length veil was from her sisters wedding, the perfectly coifed messy bun worn high on her head with the lace Maggie Sottoro dress was exactly what Grammy had always envisioned her looking like on her wedding day. The over the top florals and touches of pink were exactly what Grammy would have wanted for her princess who truly deserves only the best.
There was no better way to end this beautiful day, which was also filled with sadness then cuddling with Alpacas! Across the street from the Luthy estate is a small Alpaca farm. There were 5 Alpacas, but there was one special Alpaca with pink hair- (totally unplanned but a sign it was meant to happen) that was so sweet and gave endless snuggles and kisses. It was as if she knew the pain everyone was experiencing from cancer and wanted to bring fairytale magic happen. Amber and Grammys laberdoodle also joined in on the festivities and had a thing for sitting on Ambers veil. :-)
